Our Story

A Legacy of Faith. A Future of Purpose.

Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church is more than a place of worship, it is a church family with a history rooted in faith, perseverance, service, and the love of God. For generations, The Mount has been a part of the Hempstead community, providing a place where people can come together to worship, pray, learn God’s Word, fellowship with one another, and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Through the years, Mount Corinth has continued to build upon the foundation established by those who came before us. The church has experienced seasons of growth and change, but through every season, God has remained faithful. The prayers, sacrifices, service, and dedication of those who helped shape this congregation are a meaningful part of who we are today.

Our history reminds us that the work of the church is never about one generation alone. We are blessed to receive what others have built, and we have a responsibility to continue building for those who will come after us. Every worship service, every prayer, every Bible study, every ministry, and every act of service becomes another part of the story God is writing through Mount Corinth.

Our Three-Fold Purpose

At the heart of who we are is our three-fold purpose:

Exalt the Savior.
Edify the Saints.
Evangelize the Sinner.

These three purposes help define how we worship, how we serve one another, and how we reach beyond the walls of our church.

Exalt the Savior means that Jesus Christ is at the center of everything we do. We gather to worship Him, honor Him, glorify His name, and acknowledge who He is and what He has done for us. Through our worship, preaching, teaching, prayer, and service, our desire is to point all glory back to God.

Edify the Saints means that we believe the church should strengthen and encourage the people of God. We are called to grow together through the teaching of God’s Word, prayer, fellowship, encouragement, and Christian service. We want every believer to become stronger in their faith, equipped to serve, and encouraged to continue walking with Christ.

Evangelize the Sinner means that the Gospel is not meant to remain inside the walls of the church. We are called to share The Good News of Jesus Christ with others and to reach those who have not yet come to know Him. We desire to be a light in our community and to share the hope, grace, forgiveness, and salvation found through Jesus Christ.

Together, these three purposes shape the ministry of Mount Corinth. We worship God, strengthen one another, and reach others for Christ.

Our Place in the Community

As a college-town church, our vision extends beyond the walls of our building. We desire to reach our campus, community, county, and country for Christ. We believe God has positioned The Mount to be a light in Hempstead and wherever He gives us an opportunity to serve.

We believe the church should be a place where people can encounter God, be strengthened by His Word, find meaningful Christian fellowship, and discover their God-given purpose. From our youngest members to our seasoned saints, every generation has a place and a role in the life and future of this church.

Our commitment to the next generation is especially important. We want to preserve the faith that has been entrusted to us while creating opportunities for those coming behind us to know God, serve Him, and carry the Gospel forward. We recognize that what we do today becomes part of the foundation for tomorrow.

Looking Toward the Future

As we honor where we have come from, we remain excited about where God is taking us. We recognize that the same God who has carried Mount Corinth through its history is the God who will guide us into our future.

There is still work to do.

There are still lives to reach, families to encourage, young people to pour into, communities to serve, and souls to point toward Christ. We are grateful for those who came before us, committed to serving faithfully in the present, and hopeful about the generations yet to come.

Our story is still being written. And as we continue to worship, serve, grow, and reach others, we remain grounded in the purpose God has given us:

Exalt the Savior.
Edify the Saints.
Evangelize the Sinner.

And through it all, we remain committed to our guiding conviction:

“Trusting God to do His part as we press on to do ours.”

This is our history.
This is our ministry.
This is our family.
This is Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.
